The Canadian economy added 22,000 jobs in May, a modest amount of job growth that is unlikely to move the needle at the Bank of Canada. Canadian unemployment fell 0.2 points from 7.6 per cent to 7.4 per cent. BC added 5,200 new jobs in May. The below-the-line details were even more positive than the headline employment number as full-time employment finally rebounded with 24,900 new full-time jobs. The unemployment rate in BC ticked 0.3 points lower to 7.6 per cent.
